The Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers (IPAV) was established in 1971 as a representative body for qualified, licenced auctioneers, valuers and estate agents throughout Ireland.
An IPAV member is entitled to use the professional designation 'Certified Auctioneer and Valuer'.
IPAV's headquarters is at 129 Lower Baggot St, Dublin 2, Republic of Ireland.
Members who come from the Republic and Northern Ireland are involved in auctioneering, estate agency and related professions in the public and private sector, along with full and part-time students at educational centres in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Belfast, Derry and the University of the West of England in Bristol.
The IPAV has two main objectives:
to establish and maintain high standards of professional conduct among its members.
to provide the public with a guarantee of a professional service by acting as a watchdog to protect their interests.
In addition:
IPAV is in regular communication with Government Departments, the local authorities and other relevant bodies on issues of interest to members.
IPAV has nominating rights to Seanad Eireann.
IPAV publishes regular property price surveys and other reports which are made available to Government, the public and other interested parties.
The categories of >IPAV membership include: Honorary, Associate, Fellow, Affiliate, Overseas, Northern Ireland and Licenciate.
IPAV is affiliated to the Confederation of European Estate Agents (CEI) which represents over 25,000 estate agents across Europe.
